Celebrate Star Wars Reads With A Little Making This Year!

We love Star Wars in our house.  The stories, characters and movies are the best and keep us excited and coming back for more.

There is a day dedicated to Star Wars and ties in another one of our favorite things....Reading!

It is called Star Wars Reads!
As the site says,

Star Wars Reads, a celebration of Star Wars and reading, is set to return for its fifth year with a month-long campaign throughout October.  Storytelling events and activities, including author signings, readings, and games are planned for bookstores, libraries and schools across the globe.

Last year Hagan and I celebrated at our local book store and in years past we loved celebrating in our school library too. There are so many awesome ways to tie Star Wars to reading, writing and even history and science.
And this year, the sponsors have brought together some very fun and engaging creative activities that will engage our makers on Star Wars Reads Day too.
When you go to the Star Wars Reads website, look at the bottom of the page to find the Star Wars Reads 2016 Printable Activity Kit.

I just love what the different activities they have included this year.
There are several like this one for Bith Band Spoon Puppets,
Master Yoda Stick Puppet,
 Make Your Own Lightsaber and...
 Star Wars Finger Puppets.

These can be created with simple, inexpensive materials and are fun to pair with all of the Star Wars book our kids love.

At the bottom of each activity, you will find the different Star Wars books these connect with too.
You can also have your students be creative with writing with several of the activities like this one...Star Wars Mad Libs.
Check out the Star Wars Reads Facebook page for more ideas and....
there are loads of Star Wars Crafts on Pinterest too.

Have fun celebrating Star Wars Reads and may the force be with you!
